Introduction to this file

In this file will be placed a series of tutorials on many aspects of meteorology to help people better understand the wonderful British weather, and that further afield with time.

Some comments about what I hope to put on to this page of my web site

This is just a brief introduction to what I may put out partly to test any reaction from anyone viewing this.

As a start I’ll cover, quite briefly, the climatic zones of the world and how the UK fits into that. Nothing whatever to do with the current arguments for and against global warming.

This is simply why the earth is divided into differing climatic zones. What causes them. On then to the major air masses which affect this country. From there to the interaction between the two main ones and how they create the major weather patterns over the north Atlantic. Then on to items like the Polar Front Jet stream and its place in our weather, will we get showers or thunderstorms and how to use an upper air diagram to help predict this. Other items could be what to look for in winter to decide on will it snow in the Doncaster area, temperatures, high and lows, how fog forms and can we predict it. How to use the basic weather computer outputs on the web for doing your own weather forecast, will it rain or snow, what will the temperatures be overnight and tomorrow afternoon etc. That is just a sample and I hope to get feedback about if that is what people would like along with any other suggestions viewers may have. Simply drop your comments into my e mail access which you will find at the bottom of this page.

As Google only allow a maximum of 10 minutes for any individual clip the way forward appears to be to split any of the clips into sections of less than 10 minutes.

So for instance the first one about the world climat zones isin two parts, each about 8-9 minutes long.

Hopefully the link back to Google to look at whichever voice over you wish under any of the headings will be an easy quick link.

The first one, part 1 and part 2 of the World Climat Zones are now available.

as ever I really would appreciate any feedback, good or bad, about the subject, content, do the links work etc-when I get time I will try and tidy them both up a bit.
